Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #221

Messy Messy Fail - In my funny Facebook purchasing problem, I got 100 succulent seeds for $6 (S&H) that I planted at least 3 weeks ago.  Haven't seen a sprout yet.  I don't think I am keeping the soil wet enough, and if I keep the plastic cover over the container it grows mold.  I tried putting some holes in the plastic cover to see if letting a bit of the moisture out helped.

Tidy Victory - I cannot explain the amount of rhubarb that is growing out of the garden.  It's actually quite overwhelming.  I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to bake yet, but there will definitely be a strawberry rhubarb pie!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #220

Messy Messy Fail - I had some leftover cake and frosting in the fridge, so I thought I'd be super clever and make cake pops.  Looked it up on Pinterest but it was a total fail.  I only had popsicle sticks to use and they were too big, so they essentially just fell apart.  Lesson learned - don't use popsicle sticks for cake pops.  No cake pops for me!

Tidy Victory - I was so excited to have found my hummingbird feeder in a box in the red barn - I cleaned it out, filled it and hung it in a tree right away. Almost no sooner than I got in the house there was the cutest little dark hummingbird enjoying the sugar water.  So darn CUTE!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #219

Messy Messy Fail - What does one do when one runs out of dish washing soap to wash dishes?  One uses hand soap.  Soap is soap, one says.

Tidy Victory - I am super excited to share that I have been selected to be a Grove Collaborative influencer!  Check on my Instagram and Facebook pages for some sweet demonstrations of their latest products!

Museum Trees - A Review

Messy Messy Fail - There are literally gusts of up to 60 mph going on outside this old farmhouse right now as I type.  Mother nature is pruning- and we'll be picking up tomorrow.  That's what small children and a little red wagon are for.

Tidy Victory - New material - IT'S A MIRACLE.  Keep reading and have your #mindblown!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #218

Messy Messy Fail - We have a Panasonic vacuum cleaner, the kind that you drag on the floor behind you.  What do they call that kind - canister?  Anyways, it's been making quite the high-pitched whining noise for a few months now.  We have one vacuum shop in town - "bad motor" they said.  All I could see was dollar signs.........

Tidy Victory - They were able to replace the bad motor with a used one from another vacuum!  Total money save and TOTALLY working again.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #217

Messy Messy Fail - Does ANYONE ELSE get ants in their house when the weather starts to get nice?  Hopefully it's not just us........they were doing laps around my sugar container like it was their job!  Ant traps were set out and it took a few days, but it seems as though we got rid of them.

Tidy Victory - All of the garden beds at our new house have been raked out except for one - it was such a gorgeous day and I have been itching to see what's growing out there!  So far I have found tulips, crocuses, coral bells, WISTERIA (yes!!!!!!!), iris, daylilies and PEONIES!  I can't stop thinking about all of the fresh cut flowers I'll have to bring into the house this summer!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #216

Messy Messy Fail - So the toddler (who is really no longer a toddler might I add, need to update that) requested a Spiderman cake for this birthday.  I found a cool idea on Pinterest - melt some marshmallow from a Spiderman figurine on the cake to the number 4 birthday candle, like he's shooting webs.  Got the marshmallow on, put the cake dome on to protect the integrity of my cake, marshmallow melted off.  Now that was a fail.

Tidy Victory - I pulled off making three different types of macaroni and cheese, Italian chicken sticks (baked chicken fingers) and jalapeƱo bread for all of our party guests!  Here are the links to all of the recipes I used:

Happiness is Homemade Link Party #215

Messy Messy Fail - I am a total Facebook ad sucker - I purchased a packet of 100 succulent seeds for free (only paid for S&H).  I looked up on Pinterest how to grow them and was all ready to steal some sand from the sandbox (sand has the best drainage for cultivating the succulents).......the sandbox is absolutely frozen.  Not even a shovel could knock enough loose for the tray I was going to plant the seeds in.  I'll be trying that again when the SNOW STOPS (whenever that happens)!
Tidy Victory - Taxes are just about done!  I had every intention of doing them sooner, I have a service file them for us especially with having been in the LuLaRoe business.  HOWEVER I am sure our tax preparer appreciates it when I hand them in sooner than later.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #214

Messy Messy Fail - Still eating too many of those Utz Cotton Tails, perhaps I should buy stock.......

Tidy Victory - I was supposed to make this last year, but then it never occurred.  Three fresh loaves of Polish placek bread - yum to the max!  For those of you that don't know, it's a sweet bread typically made for Easter.  It's very crumby and crumbly, but oh so delicious. Here's the Pin or the link to the blog post if you'd like to try making it yourself, a little bit of work but TOTALLY worth it!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #213

Messy Messy Fail - I seriously have SO many lotions, sprays, lip glosses & hair products.  Three small totes worth - I used to store them in the upper shelf of one of my giant upstairs linen closets but we no longer have that.  Does that make me a product hoarder?!?!?!?!!  I just need to start using them or throwing them away!

Tidy Victory - We still have a random assortment of boxes left around the house, mainly items that we just need to find a home for.  Everyday I'm trying to put away one more box - my goal is to be box free by summer vacation (end of June!).  I really should have kept track of how many we used, but I KNOW it's in the 90's at least.  Now that's a lot of boxes and made for a MASSIVE bonfire. :)

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #212

Messy Messy Fail - Just like the classic scene at the end of The Big Lebowski, one should never try to clean up ashes of any sort when there is wind.

Tidy Victory - Slowly yet surely I've been getting books, pictures and my tchotchkes up on the shelves in the library.  They've all been sitting all lonely like in their boxes, just waiting to be displayed.  I haven't found the right arrangement yet but I'm getting there!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #211

Messy Messy Fail - I have too many clothes.  I will readily admit that.  I almost have all of my boxes of clothes put away from the move - clothes from the opposite season will now remain packed up until they are ready to be used.  How many white chunky sweaters does one need to have?  Certainly not 5!

Tidy Victory - We were unable to put a bird feeder up at our old house due to chipmunk/squirrel problems.  As in they dug a colony under our front steps which they sunk and had to be replaced.  At our new house, we have a beautiful garden and birch tree right outside our breakfast nook - perfect spot for our bird feeders!  We have morning doves, sparrows, blue jays and GORGEOUS cardinals that visit us every day now, so fun to watch!
